Ever have a day like that???

Yesterday was one of those days.  You know, the kind that you just want to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head.  I am not sure why but I woke up and felt like I was in a rut.  My floor was half mopped and I had no motivation to finish it or clean anything else for that matter.  Easton is teething and is whiny.  Every time I started to clean, Madi followed me around making a bigger mess.  When I asked her to do something or help or NOT do something she would yell "ROCK ON" and go about her business, ignoring my request.  By noon I was sitting in our rocking chair with my two babies, bawling, while I read them I'll Love You Forever.  I decided I had to get up and do something to get out of whatever funk I was in.  Nothing helps me relax and stay sane better Derrick and crafting.  Since Derrick wasn't an option I went straight to the craft room.
Derrick has been spoiling me daily as my birthday nears.  Since I am turning the big 30 he is counting down to the day with an I love you because... and a gift to match for each of the 30 days before my birthday.  One of those sweet notes read "I love you because... you have many talents and you add 'a little something' to our house to make it a home."  With it came the August ornament collection from the Wood Connection.  I had a brilliant idea to make some ants out of seed beads and went to work finishing my craft.
Here is my sunflower...
and my crow...
and my watermelon...
and my favorite... my picnic basket.
I spent the most time on this one.  I wanted it to LOOK like a basket.  I braided raffia around wire for the handles and tried to make my ants just right.  The seed beads didn't work.  They kept falling apart.  I think the surface was too smooth and they were too small.  In the end I had to get creative and I made them out of a black hot glue stick I had in the closet.  They aren't perfect but I love them!
It was the perfect thing to help me cheer up a little.  Got the floor mopped, cushions, pillows, slip covers and swing liner washed, dried and put back on. Madi's room cleaned, dusted and vacuumed. Bedding washed in our room, dishwasher loaded and a few other things I had been needing to take care of.  I love crafts and love that my sweet hubby supports my habit!

More crafts...

Last Friday I played around with some extra fabric that I have and made some flower clips I had been wanting to try.  Here's how they turned out...

I am in love with corduroy lately.  It is in Easton's quilt and since I had some extra I made Madi a bow.
 and a few girly clips...
Yesterday I needed to make something so I found an old black frame and covered it for Easton.
I like how it turned out.  I am also working on another project for him.  (He needs more than just pink in that room :D)

Easton's rag quilt...

I finished Easton's rag quilt.  Now I just need to finsh his quilt for his bed.  I am almost done with the top and then I need to find someone that has a quilting machine that will do it for me that isn't super expensive.

St. Patty's Crafts...

I still need to find or make a few clovers to stick out of the buckle.

My clover is double sided.  I am in LOVE with the chunky glitter!  It is so fun!

I still have a pot of gold to finish but I still have a few weeks! :D

Crafts...

Last week I worked on a lot of different crafts.  I did Easton's letters (below) and about 11 of my 14 ornaments for my shelf.  I only have pictures of two but I will get the rest posted soon.
I tried to do as many as I could doublr sided to add a little variety.

(I still need to add the leaves and some wire to my pumpkin)

Terrific Tuesday...

Our ward had a Terrific Tuesday this week in place of a Super Saturday. I love those. We have some amazing talent in our ward and it is so nice that they are willing to teach and share their ideas. I made this super cute door hanger and a set of three Christmas tree blocks.

A HUGE thank you to Liseanne who is only five weeks away from delivering her sixth AND seventh babies. She came up with the ideas and cut out the wood. She really is super mom! Thanks Liseanne!

Repurposing...

There are so many blogs out there dedicated to repurposing and using what you have. I thought that I would give it a shot and make a few things for Madi from our DI bag. Here is a nightgown I made her from an old t-shirt. I don't totally love it but it does look pretty cute on her. The other thing I made was a hoodie from my old hoodie. I really like how this one turned out and she looks so cute in it. It is big on her because my smallest pattern was 2T but that just means she can wear it longer, right?
Both of these were super easy to make and took less than a couple hours. I am excited to make her some more things but I have to finish some other projects before I start more! :D

Cleaning...

I took on a HUGE task this week of cleaning/organizing my scrapbook room. It was much needed! Although my supplies were already organized, there was stuff EVERYWHERE! It had become a dumping ground for everything that didn't have a place. It is so nice to have a clean space to work in! Madi disappeared while I was cleaning. I could hear her in the storage room which is right next door.
Madi was "organizing" the storage room for me. :D What a great helper!

Finger Painting...

On Tuesday, Madi did her first finger painting. I covered her with a sheet and let her go to town. She wanted to eat the paint. Good thing it's non-toxic!
The finished product!!! (I helped with the hand prints :D)

Crafting...

I finally finished the frame for Madi's room and am just waiting on the picture I ordered to put in it. It matches her name and "giggle". I think that I am going to redo her magnet board to match.

Oh Baby!!!

There are several people I know that are pregnant right now and those that know the gender are all having girls!!! Madi will have five new cousins in the next few months and they are ALL girls! I am so excited for her to have some little friends!
I went to a shower on Saturday for one of the cousins. Laura is due on March 4th with her first. She married Derrick's cousin, Jameson. We are so excited for them and can't wait to meet Rachel! I made her a hooded towel and a little "cake". It was so fun to make. It is the first one I have done! Hope you liked it guys!

My Valentine....

For Valentine's Day I made Derrick a coupon book. In the last envelope I included a gift card to McDonalds. He was thrilled! It's his favorite place and I hate McDonalds so he rarely gets it.
